Danny the Dragon Book & CD Review {GIVEAWAY}

February 25, 2010

Reading is very important to our family.  Bean has been read to since she was about 1 year old.  Knowing how much she loved reading, we actually started reading with a Baby Bird even earlier.  Picking up a book at bedtime is and will continue to be a tradition (aka habit) in this family for as long as I am in power.  LOL.  With that being said, we were very excited when we were approached to review the children’s book, Danny the Dragon “Meets Jimmy”.

Danny the Dragon “Meets Jimmy” is a wonderful story about imagination, friendship, and responsibility.  This delightful children’s tale centers around Jimmy and new found friendship with Danny the Dragon and is companion, Skipper, who live/travel in this shell.  Geared toward children 2-9 years old, Bean really enjoyed this cute whimsical tale.  As always, it is great to find a story that talks about friendship, acceptance, and responsibility; it’s never to early to start grasping the concept of responsibility and manners.  The end of the story left us wanting (and now expecting) more…a second book in the series?

I really enjoyed the vivid illustrations in this book; it seemed like each was painted on a canvas as you could see the texture.  All of the details kept Bean quite engaged.  The book is illustrated by an multi-award winning illustrator, Aija Jasuna.

Danny the Dragon “Meets Jimmy” is a multi-award winning book, written by Tina Turbin.  Tina Turbin is big supporter of families, children, and education.  Not only is Tina an award winning author, but a humanitarian and activist.  She is passionate about many causes, especially Celiac disease, Autism, and gluten-free living.  You can visit her resource site for more information on gluten free living at www.glutenfreehelp.info.

As a bonus, we were also given the opportunity to review the Danny the Dragon CD “Dreams.”  Bean loves this CD. It has been playing non-stop since it’s arrival over the weekend.  The first track on the CD is an audio-book.  Bean loves to listen to this track a couple of times when she goes to bed, then the rest of the music throughout the night.  We had yet to introduce Bean to audio-books until this arrived; I think she is hooked.  The additional 10 tracks are very enjoyable and passed the 7 year old standard, though she is partial to classical music since she has listened to it nightly since birth.  Like I said before, Tina Turbin is very passionate about Celiac disease.  All profits from the sale of the CD go to the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University in support of the research and publications of Dr. Peter Green.

Danny the Dragon “Meets Jimmy” book can be purchased in hardback for $18.95 and softback for $8.95.  The audio book and song CD is $8.95.  The softbook and CD set can be purchased for $14.95, all available at www.dannythedragon.com.  Check out the fun kids contest on the website too!
